EDIT: If you're reading this, our maintenance is OVER! The problem was not found on our equipment, which means we'll have to work with our ISP to fix this small problem -- which also means another maintenance window in the future -- but at least we have eliminated our side.

Hi everyone, sorry for the late notice but I'm going to have to do some testing on 1 of our 4 internet circuits TONIGHT; Friday night or Saturday morning depending on which time zone you're in.
Most of us shouldn't notice any impact, though there may be some slowness or lag when I switch traffic on to our other ISP circuits and then another hit when I stop the tests. If a page won't load or times out, try hitting refresh 1 or 2 times and it should load then. If it doesn't work at all... trust me, I'll be typing really really really fast to try to undo whatever I just did. Hopefully you'll have some Halloween candy (if you're in the USA and celebrate that kind of thing) nearby to take away the bitterness of a small site outage. :(
Here's the handy-dandy Website That I Always Use to get a feel for when the maintenance will start in your area. Our site traffic historically dips on Friday afternoons until Saturday morning which is why we tend to pick this time for maintenance work.

If a friend or relative makes a racist or homophobic remark, do you tend to confront them or let it slide? Are you more likely to confront them if it offends you directly or someone else who seems reluctant to speak up?- I find it easier to stand up for other people, and i wouldn't let it slide if they made a rude or hurtful comment.
- Usually if a friend makes a racist or homophobic remark, I tend to let it slide. I think that while i would not say such things myself, I have no right to censor those around me.
- This happens all of the time. I confront some relatives, but I refuse to if they are drunk or watch Fox News.
- I'd let it slide if it was just a private remark... As much as I despise bigotry and intolerance, I know that you can't change people-they have to change themselves ...
- Confront! confront! confront! Politely, but without equivocation.
- SPEAK UP. Always, always, always speak up. Letting something slide lets ignorance win. No matter if it offends me directly, or someone else, I will confront the speaker and let them know that's not ok.
- I don't get offended personally. As an immigrant, woman, gay and person of color if I took every single potentially offensive remark seriously I wouldn't get anything done.
- I punch them in the balls. With my mind.
- I do speak up, but often very timidly because I feel that I'm white and therefore I don't really have any authority to lecture someone on what's racist and what isn't...
- Generally speaking, I do not let this shit fly, because it reduces me as a person, to this non-person and it replicates the destructive discourse that makes sure that sexual minorities, racial minorities, women, people with disabilities, trans people and every intersection thereof into something other than human... And sometimes... I'm just too tired to deal with it, so I roll my eyes, make a sarcastic remark and hope the conversation moves on quickly.

Nagini, Voldemort's prized snake embeded his DNA into an egg the night Lily got pregnant with Harry by biting her. Lily did not know it was his till the night the twins were born. She looked into her daughter's eyes and saw evil, and Voldemort. She told James about the snake bite and the darkness in the child's eyes and decided that they would raise the child for good, hopeing that her real father would never come searching for her." I wonder if an Angel would come to James in a dream and tell him to stick with Lily and Sage? Because that would be a hard story to believe. She is called the "Dark Princess" by Voldemort and his Death Eaters.
CONNECTIONS TO CANON: Discovered at Godric's Hallow on Halloween, she is raised by the Malfoys as an "evil" witch. No one knew who she was, and she was not present at her father's resurrection. She wants to help Voldemort's cause, and will get to do so after she turns 17. She is overjoyed to destroy Harry, and has been spying on him to help her father. Draco watches out for her at Hogwarts, and they will be paired together.
SPECIAL ABILITIES: The "darkest" person in the Malfoy house. She dislikes light. The Slytherins bow to her when in her presence.
NOTES: I wonder if she is going to turn "good" when she learns that Harry is her brother? Probably.

CONNECTIONS TO CANON: Aqua-Marie is the main character in the story for now. She is sorted into Ravenclaw. She becomes "pretty good friends with Harry and Ron", but she becomes best friends with Luna. Hermione has a name-less apparence where she is described as "somebody who thinks they know everything has". That's all we see of her.
SPECIAL ABILITIES: Tries to beat up Malfoy using her fists because she doesn't know magic yet.
NOTES: Despite the Sue names, descriptions, the Sues' back-story, and the disregard for cano. I was impressed with the Suethor's Luna. She actually made me chuckle during chapter 4 I also liked the fact that she doesn't know magic, and instead of performing fancy wandless-magic she just tries to beat up Malfoy for hurting Luna. I see potential!

CONNECTIONS TO CANON: Draco knocks her over and is rude to her when he first meets her. Harry is kind and helpful. Clearly there is going to be a love triangle, where Draco, King of the Assholes, is going to win because he's "hawt".
SPECIAL ABILITIES: "she is loyal,kind,brave and she is quite shy but she can have a temper sometimes [...] she is not a goth since her hair is natural infact she is anything but goth."
NOTES: Why would you pick Draco? This should be a Harry Potter love story!

MARKINGS: fuller lips, perfect teeth, smaller nose and an oval face, six inches taller and a "a much curvier" body. "a pierced bellybutton with an enchanted charm on it in the midst of a well defined stomach. The woman noticed this, and was about to comment, but only smiled as she noticed the charm read “Daddy’s Princess”." IMO that's trashy.
POSSESSIONS:
ORIGIN: Hermione learns on her birthday she is the heir to the wizarding throne, and her parents are not
CONNECTIONS TO CANON: Her grandmother tells her of the truth, and then tries to teach her how to become a Princess. Hmmm, that sounds familiar.
SPECIAL ABILITIES: "she and her parents had the purest blood in the entire wizarding community, to be surpassed by none."
NOTES: When I saw the "vivid violet" I was expecting it to be her eyes, not her hair! That made me so giddy!

I think that if Sparklypoo had a theme song it would be "Fireflies" by Owl City. That song, while I hate it, makes me think of unicorns and rainbows and cuddling with fluffy animals.

It could increase the beholder's magical abilities ten fold enough to be unstoppable." It is connected to her, and if she dies it dies as well. She has a communication mirror and a wand.
ORIGIN: She is "the protector of the blood ruby and also the elven princess." She is staying at Hogwarts for her protection from Lord Voldemort.
CONNECTIONS TO CANON: She used to go to Voldemort, but left when she got into a poorly explained fight with her fiance, Godric, which resulted in violence. She is sent back when her father learns that Voldemort is after her and her ruby. We learn that Godric named Hogwarts after her middle name, but we never learn her first name.
SPECIAL ABILITIES: She cries "silver tears". Instead of assuming it's just purple prose, I'm going to assume she cries real silver. She is immortal.
NOTES: I don't understand why she thinks she is allowed to act like this. Godric's vague "betrayal" happened over a thousand years ago. There is no reason to be rude to the people who are at Hogwarts now. They have nothing to do with whatever marital issues she had with Godric, and they deserve her respect, not her bratty attitude.
